Our History
Mavilo Wholesalers was established in 1983 by Mark Oliva, a third-generation entrepreneur whose connections to the Tampa community are deeply rooted. Initially working exclusively with retail jewelers and wholesalers as a diamond importer, designer and manufacturer of fine jewelry, Mavilo gained a reputation for integrity and value. We expanded our manufacturing capabilities and began working with major high-end retailers, developing a deep understanding of what drives the market and how to deliver the highest quality heirloom designs at wholesale pricing. Eventually we began dealing directly with customers upon request, opening our original showroom over 20 years ago. Business by referral became so significant that we designed a stunning new diamond and jewelry shopping destination in the heart of South Tampa, and relocated in 2010 to better accommodate our guests.
In addition to our flagship location and online retail outlets, Mavilo maintains a thriving wholesale business, supplying gemstones and finished jewelry to the industry. We have also collaborated with a variety of television shopping networks over the years, where our exclusive M. Oliva line is carried nationwide. These long-standing relationships give us additional leverage and purchasing power, another reason why we are able to constantly bring in new, exciting inventory and maintain our highly competitive pricing structure.
Relationships are so important to our business, and we are proud to have worked with generations of families who trust us to deliver the very best diamonds and jewelry to help celebrate the major occasions of their lives. We consider our staff and customers part of our extended family, which is why a visit to Mavilo often feels like a reunion. Our founder, Mark Oliva, and his brother Michael are active, highly participatory owners. If Mark isn't on the floor of the showroom catching up with guests, inspiring team members with his dedication and passion, consulting on custom design projects or coming up with new ways to delight our customers, he's traveling across the country and the world to strategize, negotiate and discover new resources to bring into the store. Michael, who joined the company in 1991, is our diamond guru with a vast understanding of the diamond market and rigorous criteria for the quality of stones that will be purchased for our Mavilo Exclusive Diamond inventory. Michael's two great passions are diamond education and sports, and he is able to enjoy both by working with our customers (including many professional athletes and local celebrities) to help them find the perfect diamond that meets their requirements and his exacting standards. Looking to the future, Mavilo is focused on continuing to innovate and improve upon our core strengths: sourcing, manufacturing, design, customer service & experience, and of course, incredible value.
